FAQs
What is 3D printing?
3D printing is a type of manufacturing process that stacks heated layers of material on top of each other in a precise manner to form an object according to a CAD (3D) design!
What materials are used?
We mostly use PLA plastic, also known as Polylactide , which is a type of sturdy and high quality thermoplastic! It consists of renewable raw materials and is biodegradable.
Do you offer different material options?
Depending on availability, there may be different types of material ready (i.e. PLA, Nylon, etc.); feel free to reach out to info@shapecloud.ph to inquire!
What color does my 3D print come out as?
Our prints come in single colors, and when ordering, you may choose which color you would like to have an object printed in! An object can also be painted in single or multiple colors as a post-process feature (additional fees may apply)
What are my color choices for the print?
White, Red, Blue, Green, Teal, Black, Purple, and Yellow. (Subject to availability); We may also be announcing the option of special colors outside of the standard selection for certain promo periods in the future!
What do we mean by "post-processing"?
This may entail sanding, buffing, base coating, painting, or multi-color painting.
How do I avail of post-processing services?
For the basic post-processing option (sanding/polishing and single-color painting), you may avail of this while placing your order for a design. With regard to multi-color finishing, simply reach out via info@shapecloud.ph, or include it in your order notes when uploading your file to the platform.
How long would it take an order to finish?
As much as we'd like to give a specific time line for orders, our best estimate would be a minimum of 5-7 working days from the time an order is finalized and paid for. Post processing may affect lead time accordingly.
What if I don't know how to use 3D design programs (CAD)?
No problem! You can always inquire at info@shapecloud.ph for our CAD services, or there are plenty of free 3D file marketplaces where you can also type-search a design you want, download it, then have us do the printing! Head over to our design guide section to learn more.
How durable are 3D printed objects?
Depending on the thickness and the form of the design, these plastic prints are generally strong enough to resist damage from slight falls, etc.
What file types do you accept?
To keep things simple, the platform will only accept .stl files, though if you have other file types (.obj, .3ds, etc.) feel free to reach out to us via info@shapecloud.ph if you need help with the export/conversion to .stl
If I'm designing my own 3D (CAD) file, what software can I use?
As long as the design can be exported as .stl file type, generally any CAD software would work great!
Can I have my design publicly featured on the Shapecloud Shop?
We're always happy to include client works as a special feature in our Shop; feel free to reach out to info@shapecloud.ph to learn how!
What is 3D scanning, and how can I avail of it?
3D scanning allows us to capture the details of a person or an object, and end up with a 3D printable file of what was scanned. Please let us know via email at info@shapecloud.ph if you would like to schedule a 3D scanning session!
What can be 3D scanned, and how long does the process take?
We can scan small objects that span a width of 4-6 inches, or we can also scan people, capturing either a bust or the whole body of the person. The process can take as short as a few minutes, but would extend longer for more complicated objects.
How much does 3D scanning cost?
This would depend on the object being scanned, though please feel free to inquire via info@shapecloud.ph
How do I claim my 3D print orders?
An initial choice of home delivery or pick-up at the Shapecloud office (#88 Capitol Hills Drive, Old Balara, Quezon City) would be available. Delivery charges may be applicable based on area.
How long does the delivery process take, and what is included in the charge?
Depending on the location, it can take from one to a few days time. The delivery charge also includes basic packing for your order, to minimize risk of damage on delivery.
Can I get a rush 3D print order done?
For rush orders, please feel free to reach out to info@shapecloud.ph, or to have this written on the upload notes (Depending on capacity, additional fees may apply)
How safe are 3D printed objects when undergoing delivery?
Generally 3D prints are sturdy enough for the transit, though some prints may be deemed too fragile for delivery, and would be recommended for pick up. In this case, clients can still opt to go for the paid home delivery route, but would in-turn void the refund policy.
What are the modes of payment available?
Clients can pay via paypal upon checkout, or through bank deposit (submitting deposit slip via email for proof of payment).
What is the basic policy on refunds/defective orders?
In summary, if there are major defects in the final output of the print upon delivery, we can definitely have the object re-printed so long as the defective product is returned, and the print was deemed suitable for delivery.
Can I get scale discounts if I order in bulk?
Absolutely! Send over an email to info@shapecloud.ph so that we can discuss your bulk order, or head over to our "talk to us" section to learn more!
Does Shapecloud entertain partnerships?
Yes! We're very open to forming supplier partnerships for groups/institutions that would benefit from high order quantity discounts, or product tie ups for a customized product line.
Is Shapecloud open to partnering up with other manufacturers/additive manufacturers?
We're definitely open to the idea! If you have the capacity to do similar forms of manufacturing/3D printing, and want to learn how you can partner up with us and serve a wider audience, email us at info@shapecloud.ph!
